After being rediscovered, the British nineties hidden gems Panchiko have made one of the biggest comebacks in the music scene. From releasing a demo CD in the nineties to becoming international stars, this is a classic tale of being in the right place at the right time. Panchiko’s demo CD, D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L, was uploaded to the web by a charity shop thrifter, and ever since they’ve absolutely exploded. The quartet has since racked up tens of millions of streams on Spotify alone with each track, including D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L’s title track, “All They Wanted,” “Laputa,” and “Kicking Cars.” And now, they’re celebrating with an upcoming album and worldwide tour. Panchiko is making their way to the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday 14th June 2025, and you can’t afford to miss this epic comeback! Book your tickets now to secure your spot!
The sudden emergence of British nineties hidden gems Panchiko is some of the wildest music news we’ve seen in recent years. Back in the nineties, the Nottingham quartet only issued a demo CD named D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L, before parting ways and moving on to different ventures. But after someone found a CD copy of the demo in a charity shop and uploaded it online, their lives haven't been the same since. It blew up on the internet, with its viral titled track D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L racking up nearly 40 million streams on Spotify, with hits “All They Wanted,” “Laputa,” and “Kicking Cars” also amassing tens of millions of listens on the streaming service.
Their newfound demo has now shot band members, Owain, Andy, Shaun and John, into international stardom. Panchiko have since reunited and toured big venues. And now, they’re gearing up to release a brand new album, and we already know it’s gonna be a huge deal.
In April, the rediscovered four piece is set to issue Ginkgo, their first LP for a proper label. Panchiko gave fans a taste of what to expect from its title track which is “a spaced-out reverie with big falsetto vocals, whimsical string-section action, and complicated drums.” And now, the group has also shared “Shandy In The Graveyard,” their high profile collaboration with New York rapper Billy Woods.
““Shandy In The Graveyard” is a lush, meditative song that’s driven by a dusty breakbeat, and it’s got billy woods getting reflective and poetic before Panchiko chop his voice all up. It feels very late-’90s,” says Stereo Gum. And the excitement doesn’t stop there. Panchiko also recently announced an absolute colossal North American tour that will be hitting up major venues in May and June. The US tour will kickstart in Boston at Big Night Live on May 28, before making its way to esteemed venues like the Hollywood Palladium on June 14, and wrapping up on June 24 in Las Vegas. This tour promises to live up to all the rage. Book your tickets now to experience one of the most exciting comebacks in music history.
