Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma and Renee Downer created the group in 2019 and have grown a huge following that go by the nickname “Flolifers”. Jorja grew up listening to R&B music and in 2017 she competed in and won the second series of the CBBC Competition “Got what it takes”. Stella grew up listening to African Musical artists and then was later introduced to British artists like Amy Winehouse. She attended the Sylvia Young Theater where she met Renee. Rene grew up listening to R&B and church gospel. They then met Jorja through Instagram where she posted videos of herself singing.
They took two years before releasing their first song “Cardboard Box” in 2022. “Cardboard Box” received Silver certification from the BPI and the girls were then nominated for Best New artist of the year as well as best group at the 23rd BET awards. They then released their second song titled “Immature” at the end of 2022 and whilst promoting this they announced the release of their debut Extended play, which many critiques had noted that this extended play was an “Essential Listen”.
In December of 2023, FLO became the first female group to top the annual survey BBC Sound Of… and in addition, win the Brit Rising Star award in the same year. They also went on to sell out on their 2023 tour dates and locations for their FIRST EVER TOUR!!! They performed at the 2024 Coachella which was broadcasted all over the world. At the end f 2024 they released their new album titled “Access All Areas” which has collaborations with Cynthia Erivo and GloRilla which features songs like “Walk Like This” and “Check” which combined have over thirty million views already!
