Spanish reggae with a side of chill vibes, anyone? Argentine reggae sensation Dread Mar I will headline a show at the Hollywood Palladium on Friday, August 16th, 2024. That Argentinian accent, which has always been synonymous with good Spanish rock going back to the days of Soda Stereo, Enanitos Verdes, and company, also gives his music that little extra flavor.
This is one of those concerts where you’ll feel the vibe even before the show starts. People are typically going to be in a good mood heading to the Palladium because you know who you’re going to see. It’s just impossible to be uptight and mad if you’re going to listen to some chill music. Then Mariano Castro, AKA Dread Mar I, walks out on stage with the long hair that gives him his stage name, and any worries or leftover resentment from having to deal with traffic to get to the Palladium is going to fade away like that!
One of the coolest things about these concerts is that Dread Mar I does not limit himself to his own music library. He’ll get up there and sing some classics from Juan Gabriel while adding some of his signature edits. It’s very much “him,” but you’re listening to a very popular Spanish song. That’s why it makes sense to stand in the crowd, even if you just know “Tu Sin Mi '' from Dread Mar I’s original tracks.
Speaking of standing in the crowd, the Palladium is known for its large standing-room-only area.
